| I am very sad to report the passing of wrestler Eric Waas of Bethlehem Catholic HS on Friday June 13. Eric is the
son of longtime District XI Referee Gene Waas. I'm sure you will all join me in saying a prayer for his immediate
family and his extended Bethlehem Catholic HS family. |
| It is with great sadness that I have to report that 1999 PIAA 2A 112lb Champ Kevin Yarko of Catasauqua HS was tragically killed in a motorcycle
accident on Friday May 30. I'm sure you will all join me in saying a prayer for his immediate family and his extended

Who's bored? Me too. See any Olympoic wrestling? Me either. Thanks NBC for showing us ALL the various sports. Saw
lot's of swimming, gymnastics, beach volleyball, and track....but no wrestling. Oh well.
So you may have noticed that the website has a new look. Particularly if you haven't been here since States. Our
new graphic at the top of the webpage is courtesy of Jeremy Cresswell who you all remember as a fine wrestler from
Blue Mountain. He is studying Graphic Design at Kutztown U. and was very generous with his time and skills. Thanks
again Jeremy!!
Some new rules this year, primarily having to do with schedules and number of matches allowed. I'm sure you all
remember the heated discussions about how Football needed more time in the fall, so now all winter sports are pushed
back by a week in starting. So these are the new dates:
11/17/08 - First Practice Date
11/22/08 - First Inter-School Practice or Scrimmage Date
12/5/08 - First Regular Season Contest Date
1/31/09 - District Deadline Team Wrestling
2/3/09 - Team Wrestling First Round
2/28/09 - Regional Deadline Wrestling
Now you will also remember I'm sure that allowed matches have been reduced from 24 to 22. So I think this season
is going to have alot of new experiences for us all. |
