Description: For those who prefer to learn via hands-on, individually personalized instruction, I've dug very deeply into my 25 years experience teaching holography workshops to develop this comprehensive program. It is the best of what I have to offer after a lifetime in holography. The objective of this workshop is: making great holograms.

No prior experience with holography is necessary, and the creation of one 4 x 5-inch, split-beam, white-light reflection *OR* laser-transmission hologram on a professional, glass holographic plate is included (a multiple-hologram option is available below). Topics included in this workshop are:

  • Types of Holograms and their Creation
  • Types of Lasers and their Output
  • Holography Table Optics Layouts
  • Determining Proper Exposure Levels
  • Understanding Beam Ratios / Beamsplitting
  • Working with Spatial Filters
  • Effective Light & Air Baffling
  • Darkroom Processing Chemistry
  • Practical Densitometry
  • Achieving Correct Polarization
  • Moving On to Larger Holograms . . . and more.

In this workshop you'll discover . . . * all the different types of holograms that can be created in the lab * which lasers work, which do not, and why * how to get the most from your available working space * how to match your exposures to the sensitivity curves of your recording media * learn to get the most from a spatial filter without changing the lens or pinhole combination * mixing your own processing chemistry * how to determine the correct density of your developed hologram * learn how to get the most power: from your laser to the emulsion * what you'll need to know to begin making larger holograms * and more!

OPTION:
All of the above, plus learn, set-up, and make BOTH a split-beam, laser transmission hologram AND a split-beam, white-light reflection hologram for a total of $325 (6 hour workshop / plus materials). Holograms are on professional, 4 x 5-inch holographic glass plates (not inexpensive film).
