The web is filled with references to holographic this, and holographic that. Unfortunately, one of the biggest misconceptions on the Net centers around what a hologram is. Much of the information is incorrect. The best way to find out anything about holography -- regardless of how it is being applied -- is to get that information from someone who is involved in the field: a holographer.

Holographic principles have been around for many, many years. Even those that deal with the more human and social aspects of holography.

Popular books such as Michael Talbots "Holographic Universe" have done much to bring the general population into the fold. The popular movement that brought Talbots book to the bookshelves can be traced back to work by such scientists and visionaries as physicist David Bohm (Wholeness and the Implicate Order); philosopher Kristamirti (The Wholeness of Life); brain researcher Carl Pribram (Stalking the Wild Pendulum); and compiled works such as those by Ken Wilber (The Holographic Paradigm and Other Paradoxes).

This history can be traced back even further: to the "New Thought" movement of the late 19th century/very early 20th century, with writers such as William Walker Atkinson. In fact, ALL of the current popular holographic and/or positive thought books owe a great deal to Atkinson and the movement, and it was in 1906 that he wrote of concepts very similar to holography . . . before holography was even invented. The same can be said for the groundbreaking "Cosmic Consciousness" authored by Richard M. Bucke.

It is through my many years of study of the above rich 19th and early 20th century foundation/history that I begin my writings on what I term HoloMentation. It is my hope that this new and exciting work will find a place alongside my visual and educational work with holography.
