Ellsworth Smith Trumpet Competion
Morton Gould was born December 10, 1913. In this centenary year,
the Allentown Band pays tribute to this iconic American composer.
Perhaps best known for his American Salute, a rousing fantasy based
on When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Morton Gould produced
a large volume of works, ranging from orchestral to concert band,
and from ballet to musical theater to film and even television scores.
Many of these works are featured by the band and throughout 2013.
The upcoming Memorial Day Program at Springhouse Middle School
includes Gould's American Salute and his marvelous interpretation
of Yankee Doodle
