About My Workshops
Since 1983, I have provided world-class holography educational programs for tens of thousands of students at: The Franklin Institute, Phila; Liberty Science Center, NJ; The Discovery Center of Science and Technology, PA; Lehigh University Physics Dept.; Lehigh-Carbon Community College; Northampton Community College; Georgian Court University Physics Dept.; The Smithsonian Institution, Wash. D.C. (Hirshhorn Museum & Fick Education Center), the New York Hall of Science; the Urban Systemic Initiative (NSF); private homes; and many elementary, middle and high schools throughout the northeast region -- along with several National Science Foundation-funded programs in other areas of the U.S.

Surrounding Areas
My private home studio and reference library is located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, close to many of the major NE metropolitan areas: Philadelphia (1.5 hours); New York City (2 hours); Binghamton (2.5 hours); New Jersey (west) (30 minutes); New Jersey (shore) (2.5 hours); Baltimore (3.5 hours); Washington D.C. #1: Introduction to Holography (students, adults)

This is a one-on-one introduction to holography workshop for beginners and those wishing to return to holography after a long absence. This class begins with a personal tour of the historical holography reading room. You will learn about the history of lasers, holograms and 3D, and see famous examples on display. Then, working along with me from start to finish, you will make your own museum-quality, display hologram to take home with you. This hologram is recorded onto an archival-quality, gelatin silver glass plate, not cheap film.

We'll begin by setting up the optics table with the necessary equipment needed to make the holographic recording. You will work with a safe, classroom laser, and pick up a few 'tips and tricks' along the way. You will set up the holographic scene to be recorded, and make the exposure. Once the exposure is made, it is then time to move on to the darkroom processing area, where you'll put on a lab apron and gloves, and go step by step through the development process.

When all is completed, and the holographic glass plate is dry, you will have an amazing three-dimensional image recording to take home with you.

I have been running this workshop for nearly thirty years! It is also a great way to try your hand at holography, without making a serious investment. I already have everything that is needed right here, and ready to go. Bring your camera and document the entire process.

#2: Suitcase Program @ Your Site (students, adults)

"Have Holograms . . . Will Travel"
Call (610-770-0341) or email about having me speak or give a presentation to your group or organization. I have been going "on the road" since 1983. I bring a working demo laser, and a display of world-famous 3D holograms.

I cover how a laser works; how a laser is used to make 3D holograms; communication technologies with fiber optics w/demo (voice on a laser beam of light!); how holograms are used in medical imaging, fine art, advertising, and security; and how the world got started with 3D.

And more.

I can also provide a short powerpoint presentation on the art, science and history of this most amazing field. For classrooms and small groups, the powerpoint can be in 3D (with glasses supplied).

Length of each presentation can be adjusted from twenty minutes to one hour. You will also find my fee most reasonable.

At Your Location (school, private home, church groups, etc.)
Any morning, afternoon or evening, except Sundays.
From twenty minutes to one hour in length.
Based on my availability.
