Committee On Political Education:
Welcome to the Bethlehem
Professional Fire Fighters Fire COPE. What the committee is asking
is that registered voters in the City of Bethlehem join the Fire COPE at
no cost to them. As a COPE member, we keep our members informed on
Fire Department issues that adversely affect them, their neighborhood,
and the safety of all the Bethlehem Fire Fighters. During Election
time, we mail an Informational Letter grading candidates for City Council
and Mayor. We use a Grading
System of "A" to "F" using voting records of existing council members
and/or the mayor that is running for re-election as well as interviews
with new candidates. The Fire COPE also constantly keeps tabs on
Fire Fighters' issues on the state and Federal levels. But, our main
concern is with the City of Bethlehem.
Fire COPE doesn't get into
specifics of salaries, benefits, or any issue that is labor-management
oriented. We at the Fire COPE are mainly concerned with Emergency
equipment, facilities, safety and manpower. We want to let our members
know if the council members, or mayor is Fire Department friendly, and,
which one is going to help us keep the Bethlehem Fire Department going
in a direction that is progressive, not stagnant.
Since the beginning of the
Fire COPE, our membership has been growing at a steady rate. Many
registered voters in the City of Bethlehem are concerned with what is happening
with the Bethlehem Fire Department. If you are interested, please contact
