Links
I have been promsing to provide some links to other web sites with pages that I find interesting. So, here are a few:
- Jake's Kansas City Bar B' Que, Walnutport
I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like a place I would like. I plan to check it out next spring. - Red Orbit
Who wouldn't find images of outer space cool? Man the stars are so cosmic! - Defenders of Wildlife
Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities. This link specificly addresses the plight of the Native Alaskan Wolf. Sure, I can be passionate about a lot of things, and this happens to be one of them. After all, it's my site and my favorite links - so deal with it! - Canyon Lands National Park
One summer I drove 'truck' for a Utah based trucking company and came to appreciate the scenery that is Utah. This web site is the work of Ray Rasmussen. I think Ray and I have a lot in common. He just happens to live in Utah. Click on 'Slide Show' in the upper right corner and enjoy! You will not regret the time you devote to this site. It is fasinating. - Attack On America
Yes, this is one of my creations. It is a tribute to those that lost their lives on september 11, 2001. It is my feeble attempt to pay tribute to the fallen heroes and an effort on my part to insure that "We Never Forget." - Kid of Speed!
Kid of Speed indeed! This is a very interesting site I stumbled across by accident. It was created by a young Russian woman, Elena. Elena rides a motorcycle. She rides it very fast and prefers empty, deserted roads, so she leaves her home inKiev and rides 130kms north to Chernobyl, in the so called,"dead zone". She takes time to explain about the nuclear accident and the efects of radiation, but the most interesting of all, is the photos of what remains of Chernoblyl. Another section is devoted to the World War II bunkers used by the Russians in their defense against the German invasion. It is all very fasinating. I really enjoy viewing Elena's work and I think you will too. - The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
Every spring teams of sled dogs compete in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race from Anchorage to Nome. A race over 1150 miles of the roughest, most beautiful terrain Mother Nature has to offer. In 2006 the race will begin on March 4. In 2005 the winning time was 9 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes and 31 seconds. You can follow along on the Internet, if you are so inclined. This site, gives you all the information you would ever want about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. - John Fogerty
Not a fan of John Fogerty? The Creedance Clear Water Revival? What a shame! I am a huge fan! Creedance Clear Water Revival is among my all-time favortie group. Life would not have been the same without the Creedance Clear Water Revival and John Fogerty. As lead singer and songwriter for the immensely influential Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty scored nine Top 10 singles from 1969-72 (Creedence out-sold The Beatles in 1969) released a slew of seminal hits that would become great American anthems synonymous with a generation, including "Fortunate Son," "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Born On The Bayou," and "Who'll Stop the Rain." His chart-topping solo recordings have sold millions of copies worldwide, while his live performances have received the highest critical acclaim. Fogerty has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Hey, must I remind you that this is my list! Not your cup of tea? That's okay, just pick up and move on. - Lehigh County Historical Society
Never visited the Lehigh County Historical Society? What a shame! It is a good beginning place for learning about the history of the place where we live and work. Well, some of us work and some of us don't. I happen to be in the latter category which is why I have time to explore all thses neats sites and other things that I find interesting. Life is good when every day is Saturday! - Antique Prints
I am enchanted with graphic images, paintings, prints and such. This site is filled with antique prints of scenes of the British Isles, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, America, Asia and Austalia. Click on the link to see an enlargement of the thumbnail print. Mesmerizing! - Chief Joseph
"Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever." Chief Joseph has been my hero for as long as I can remember. The first time I read the words he spoke when he surrendered I knew I had to know more about this man. He is a legend, a warrior and a military genius. Of course, the problem is that there are so many sites dealing with Joseph...but the one I chose is probably one of the best. "It does not require many words to speak the truth.", Chief Joseph. - Chief Joseph
For the serious minded among you that are more interested in how events unfolded. - Classic Super Bowl Commercials
Who doesn't remeber the "Mean Joe Green" Coke commerical in 1980 or the 1982 "Cindy Crawford Pepsi" commercial? Well, click on this link and watch them time and time again, or check out some of the other great commercials.
- "Baghdad Burning"
A female in her late twenties, living in war-torn Baghdad, created a blog which she uses to put forth her ideas on American Occupation, the Iraqui Constitution, the voting process and critiques President Bush's speeches. She refers to some of his utterances as nonsense. I do not necessarily endorse her viewpoints, but have to acknowledge the fact that she is expousing her views based on her observations from her home in Baghdad. She usually takes a hard stand on American occupation and calls attention to atrocities that continue to occur within Iraqi. It is interesting to look at the occupation through her eyes and to acknowledge that much of her point of view makes sense. Although I supported Bush and continue to support Our Troops in Iraqi, to deny that the American government is not entirely truthful and forthcoming would be naive. In any event, it is interesting reading and a years worth of this woman's writings have been published in book form.
