One summer I drove 'truck' for a Utah based trucking company and came to appreciate the scenery that is Utah. This web site is the work of Ray Rasmussen. I think Ray and I have a lot in common. Kid of Speed indeed! This is a very interesting site I stumbled across by accident. It was created by a young Russian woman, Elena. Elena rides a motorcycle. She rides it very fast and prefers empty, deserted roads, so she leaves her home inKiev and rides 130kms north to Chernobyl, in the so called,"dead zone". She takes time to explain about the nuclear accident and the efects of radiation, but the most interesting of all, is the photos of what remains of Chernoblyl. Another section is devoted to the World War II bunkers used by the Russians in their defense against the German invasion. It is all very fasinating. I really enjoy viewing Elena's work and I think you will too. - The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
Every spring teams of sled dogs compete in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race from Anchorage to Nome. A race over 1150 miles of the roughest, most beautiful terrain Mother Nature has to offer. In 2006 the race will begin on March 4. In 2005 the winning time was 9 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes and 31 seconds. You can follow along on the Internet, if you are so inclined. Life would not have been the same without the Creedance Clear Water Revival and John Fogerty. As lead singer and songwriter for the immensely influential Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty scored nine Top 10 singles from 1969-72 (Creedence out-sold The Beatles in 1969) released a slew of seminal hits that would become great American anthems synonymous with a generation, including "Fortunate Son," "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Born On The Bayou," and "Who'll Stop the Rain." His chart-topping solo recordings have sold millions of copies worldwide, while his live performances have received the highest critical acclaim. - "Baghdad Burning"
A female in her late twenties, living in war-torn Baghdad, created a blog which she uses to put forth her ideas on American Occupation, the Iraqui Constitution, the voting process and critiques President Bush's speeches. She refers to some of his utterances as nonsense. I do not necessarily endorse her viewpoints, but have to acknowledge the fact that she is expousing her views based on her observations from her home in Baghdad. She usually takes a hard stand on American occupation and calls attention to atrocities that continue to occur within Iraqi. It is interesting to look at the occupation through her eyes and to acknowledge that much of her point of view makes sense. Although I supported Bush and continue to support Our Troops in Iraqi, to deny that the American government is not entirely truthful and forthcoming would be naive. In any event, it is interesting reading and a years worth of this woman's writings have been published in book form.
