Pattern
for Ferret Tent
(Note: I haven't made this yet, so you
may choose to do a test run first!) ;)
For each tent
you will need one (1) bottom, one (1) top, four (4) sides, and eight (8) loops.
Only one of
your 4 sides should have a hole cut in it, to allow the ferrets access to the
inside of the tent.
The 17"
portion of each side piece (marked A) should be sewn onto the bottom piece of
the tent (marked A). The 6" portion of the sides (marked B) should be sewn
to the top piece of the tent (marked B).
The side pieces
should be sewn together along the 16" side (marked C). Make sure to put
your "loops" at the top & bottom where two side pieces join.
Make sure
when you start to sew, that you have the "right side" of the fabric
towards the middle, otherwise you will end up with your seams on the outside
of your tent! Place the end of your loop material between the side pieces when
you are ready to sew the sides together.
For ease in
sewing, use straight pins to hold your fabric where you want it.
Allow, 1/4
to 1/2 inch of fabric for the seam. (Which really won't have much affect on
the finished tent size)
You may also
choose to sew around the opening of the tent, or attempt to sew a piece of fabric
around the edge of the hole.
The bottom
loops only should be sewn shut on the bottom end.
As for the
hard plastic support tubing, try a hardware type store (??). You will need two
(2) pieces approximately 37" in length, and 1/4" in diameter. These
go cross-wise (X) through the top loops & into the bottom loops.
