Welcome!

My name is Aprille, and I currently share my life with 3 wonderful guys & a sweet little girl.

Who??

Well, my first love is a medium silvermitt male named Ebola Zaire. Zaire and I have been together for nearly a year (and he's just over a year old).

My darling boyfriend, Tigran, bought Zaire (at a pet shop in Dallas, TX) for me on August 25, 1997 for my 21st birthday (which was 8/26) . Zaire was so cute, and so tiny. He wasn't more than 6 inches long!! (For some baby pictures, click here. For current pictures, click here).

I took Zaire everywhere with me. I would bring him to work, at the end of the day (when I needed to get more stuff finished). He would have fun running around the office. On occassion he would even chase me, it was so silly to watch him run so fast after me.  I would take him in the car, to the park, all over. He was my pride & joy =)

On October 11, 1997, I rescued "Bandit" from someone in Maryland. He wasn't well taken care of. He was forced to live in a tiny cage about the size of a small dog carrier. And as far as i know wasn't feed well. He was just in bad shape. And terrified of other ferrets!! I re-named him Azerbaijan (Baijan), which is a little more interesting.  The first night he & Zaire were together, all Baijan would do was run & scream. He was so frightened of this new ferret trying to play with him. But Baijan didn't know how to play! So, when Zaire would jump on him, Baijan thought he was being attacked.

It only took the two about one week until things were great. Now Baijan chirps & dances & is happier than he's ever been. Baijan is about 3 years old now, a black sable male. He is the sweetest, too. He will sit up & beg for *ever* if I have treats for him. And he also sits perfectly balanced on my shoulder when I go out with him.

On July 13, 1998, I adopted two more cuties from my local ferret shelter (PFRA). Their names were "Chip & Dale" but that soon changed!! ;) These two had been dumped off at the SPCA only days before!! How anyone can just abandon their babies like that is beyond me!! At least my shelter was able to rescue them.

The male is a big teddy bear named Bakari. He's a gorgeous chocolate (a definite ribbon winner!) and about 1.5 years old. The female is Makena. She is a beautiful, petite, ~9 month old, black sable. He fur is the most gorgeous I have ever seen, soft & silky as a bunny!! (Sorry, no pictures yet!)

All four hit it off immediately! Zero problems. It's as if they have been together since birth! Makena & Bakari LOVE anything that rattles! They go nuts! It's silly to watch them chase things, their little legs flying wildly.

All my babies eat Totally Ferret, with a *teeny* bit of Iams kitten & Pro plan growth mixed in. But its about 90% TF.

I use wood pellet litter, the type that's made for pellet stoves. I bought mine at Agway, 40# for $3.99. Can't beat that price!!

I have one of the best ferret vets around, Dr. Karen Allum. She is the ferret shelter's vet, plus is a ferret owner! ;)
