Course Breakdown |
The 21 gate course can be broken down into three distinct Phase's to make it easier to remember the flow of each gate
To make the course symmetrical and fair to all paddlers, each Phase is comprised of a certain set of moves then mirrors those skills on the opposite paddling side before moving to the next Phase.
Phase 1 focuses on Upstream technique. This means going past a gate then going through it from the other side and basically going out the same side as you entered.
Phase 2 focuses on "S" Turn technique. This means going past a gate then going through it from the other side and going out the opposite side from which you entered.
Phase 3 focuses on Offset technique. This means going through the next gate in the direction that you are coming from. |
