Athletic Hall of Fame


The Bangor Slater Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals, establishes pride and preserves the tradition of the Bangor Athletic program by honoring those who have made a significant contribution to the athletic program in the Bangor Area School District.

Sam Brown

  • University of Tennessee, transferred to Moravian and was a dean's list student
Michael E. Renaldo
Class of 1948
 
High School Achievements:
  • 9 varsity letters
  • co-captain baseball, basketball and football
  • batted over .400 and led team in hitting for three years
  • President of High School Athletic Association

    Post High School Achievements:

  • Awarded 4-year football scholarship to Fordham University
  • Won two letters in both football and baseball
  • Senior year: MVP in baseball, All-East Baseball Team at first base, best athlete of graduating class
  • Retired in 1992 after 37 1/2 years in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator
  • Former adjunct professor of history at Setoff Hall University
  • Current adjunct professor of education at Ramapo College
  • Senior Examiner CPA Exam Services, North Jersey

    Coaching Achievements:

  • One year undergraduate assistant football coach at Fordham
  • 13 years as assistant football coach, head football coach , and head baseball coach at Manchester Regional High School in Haledon, NJ.
  • 2 years as assistant football coach at DePaul High School in Wayne, NJ
  • 1 year as player-coach of the Heidleberg (Germany) Area Command football team while serving in the U.S. Army.

    Family:

  • Wife Barbara, 7 children, and 10 grandchildren

Joseph Emrick

John Heard

  • Most outstanding defensive player in his senior year
  • All-League recognition in basketball

    Post High School Achievements:

  • 2 letters in basketball at Rider College
  • Played semiprofessional baseball for Saylorsburg and Bethlehem in the Blue Mountain League
  • Inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Schuylkill Chapter

    Coaching Achievements:

  • District XI Semifinals in 1976-1977
  • Runner-up for District XI Championships in 1975-1976
  • Eastern semifinals in the State Class A Playoffs
  • District Championships in 1984 and 1985
