Over the past four years, Allison Angulo, a senior at Bangor Area High School, has proved to be an all-around student, who is talented in academics, the arts, and athletics. A three-year member of the field hockey team, Allison was named as an Express Times Player of the Week and a member of the All Academic Field Hockey Team with a GPA of 98. She was named to the Colonial League second team, the All Area second team and has attained All State Honorable Mention. Allison was a two-year member of the Slater's track and field team. In her junior year she took fourth place in the long jump at the District XI meet. She won the Colonial League long jump and the 100-meter dash, and was a member of the 4 x 100-meter relay championship team. She set school records in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She was recognized as an Express Times Player of the Week for Track and Field and named to the Colonial League Second Team for the long jump. Allison played three years of softball, attaining All Area Honorable Mention and Colonial League second team standing as a sophomore. She was named the Slater's outstanding offensive player as a junior. Allison participated in the 2007 and 2008 Keystone Winter Games, winning a gold medal in 2007 and a bronze medal in 2008. She received a gold medal in the 2006 National Field Hockey Festival. Off the field Allison has participated in the Bangor High School musicals for the last four years. She has been a member of the Dance Team, Chorus, Show Choir, and Bangor Select Choir. She achieved membership in the National Art Honor Society. In 2006 she received honorable mention in the Regional Art Competition. She received a Freddy Award nomination for best supporting actress, and was named to Who's Who Among America's High School Students . She volunteers at Special Olympics and served as an instructor at softball clinics. Academically she is in the top 7% of her class with a 95 GPA. In the fall Allison will attend the University of Connecticut on a half scholarship for field hockey. She intends to major in either physical therapy or kinesiology. |
Haley Ellis, a senior at Bangor Area High School, has distinguished herself over the last four years as a key player in Bangor's field hockey, basketball, and softball teams. She has eleven varsity letters and was Bangor's Female Nominee for the 2007 Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Haley played four years as right inner on the field hockey team. In her senior year, she was recognized as the team MVP and served as co-captain helping to lead the Slaters to the East Division Championship. She has attained All-State Honorable Mention in field hockey and was selected to play in the Angel 34 All-Star Game. She was also named to the All Academic Field Hockey Team. Haley played thee years of varsity basketball as point guard. As tri-captain her senior year, she helped lead the team to the East Division Championship and the Colonial League Championship. She was named the Slater's Most Valuable Defensive Player and was selected to play in the VIA All Star Game. Haley played three years of varsity softball as shortstop and catcher, again serving as team co-captain. Twice she was named to the Colonial League first team and the All Area second team. Off the field she is a member of Student Government, Varsity B, Class Cabinet, and the Prom Committee, and has maintained a GPA of 93, which puts her in the top 10% of her class. She is employed by Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. This fall she will attend Misericordia University in Scranton to major in Speech-Language Pathology and play field hockey. |
