The Black Void

Space is large and in many of the hidden corners of the galaxy there exists many strange tales. Some of these are told constantly. Others are only whispered by the brave.

Prologue

Through the black void of space came a ship, its graceful lines were hidden by the advanced cloaking shield it contained. Aboard captain Zephas of the Colonial Council Exploratory Force mulled over the data he was receiving on sensors. Finally curiosity prevailed and he adjusted his ship to land on the only planet in the desolate system. As soon as he was two meters above the surface he disengaged the cloaking shield and nimbly settled the last few meters. Leaving the engine charged Zephas made his way towards where the strange reading had originated. The ships sensors had detected a operational fusion generator. As far as anyone knew this planet had never been visited. As he approached the area Zephas pulled out a sensor scanner and carefully scanned for any dangers. Finding none he continued to walk . Soon he came to a looming building. It was made of mostly duranium and steel. The structure was rusted and obviously ready to fall a part at any time. Zephas entered cautiously, he found himself in a maze of decaying walls, some of these were incomplete and further scans indicated that much of the interior structure had been made from the surrounding jungle vegetation. After half an hour of searching Zephas finally found the generator in the center of the building. In the same area were several ancient computers. Pulling out his scanner Zephas checked the computers. Zephas punched a few buttons and smiled. One of the computers memory cores was still operational. It was but the work of a minute to pry loose the memory slot. Zephas carefully took his precious cargo back to his ship. Once Zephas entered the ships hatch he said seal. A small sucking sound issued and the entryway vanished. Zephas pulled up a chair. Plugging the module into the computer Zephas was relieved when the computer accepted it. Punching a few buttons he arranged the files by date last modified. he looked over the list: power distribution logs, fuel content, ... all of the mundane files required for efficient power core maintenance. Something caught his eye. Resistance Log. He arched an eyebrow. This looked interesting. Hunching closer Zephas opened the file...

This planet has set void for hundreds of years. All the life it once contained is long dead. The system has remained unvisited for centuries. It might have remained this way until the end of time except that in other corners of the universe there is man, and where man goes there is war, and were there is war there are losers. One of these losers was the crew of the RSS Resistance. We came to this planet, we thought we had escaped from the terrors of war, but we found it all over again. This is our story...
