My take on various issues
Because of my analytical character (see Hello!), I analyze
many of life's issues. Sometimes my conclusions are boring, sometimes scary. Well,
here I'll try to convey my thoughts on various issues - whether ancient or recent.
Some people will exclaim "YES! Of course that's true."; others will declare "NO WAY!
That's horse hockey." So be it.
Global warming
The Earth came out of an ice age 12,000 years ago - of course it's getting warmer. So, don't freak out because you've heard yet another report on global warming - it's been getting warmer for at least 120 centuries.
Unidentified Flying Objects
This subject involves many concepts: science, government, multiple countries, and
decades of conjecture. I've watched many UFO documentaries, and have developed a few
theories.
It seems to me that, having witnessed something they can't explain, too many
people proclaim that it's extraterrestrial. Call me a skeptic; I want proof, or at
least some way to explain the occurance. I can say, unequivically, that this planet
has not been visited by living beings from another planet. My rationale:
- There aren't any nearby planets with intelligent life
- SETI
and Project Phoenix haven't found any sort of radiation that seems to have an
intelligent source.
- If aliens were visiting Earth, why don't they
make themselves known?
- Why are those so-called 'extraterrestrial space craft'
so covert? Or ephemeral?
- Why would an alien look like a human?
- Wouldn't it be natural for something
not of this world to look as such?
- air-traffic controllers
- Why don't they ever see blips that act similarly
to testimonies of witnesses? (At least none have announced it.)
Furthermore, there are more plausible explanations, such as geophysical phenomena.
Consider that just within the past couple years, scientists have begun researching an
amazing concept of lightning - sprites and blue jets. These discharges radiate
upward: who would have guessed that anything like this existed? Also, remember
that Earth has an ionoshpere, which reflects most radiation (eg - radio waves), and a
magnetoshpere, which is causes the aurora borealis/australis. A reasonable conjecture
is that the planet and its atmosphere interact in as-yet unknown ways.
The Bermuda Triangle
Actually, this has recently been explained (in theory); I mention it for those that
haven't yet heard, and to exemplify how ridiculous some theories are. I've heard some
interesting theories:
- the Bimini Wall was part of Atlantis, and a giant crystal there beams its energy
to hapless victims,
- there is some kind of force field that transports human to another dimension,
- extraterrestrials use it somehow.
I never believed any of it; they just weren't plausible. Within the past 2 years,
scientists have shown empirically that great deposits of gas (namely methane) being
expelled from the ocean floor could sink a large ship. It seems that this would
explain other occurances, such as planes going down (because of the engines not
getting enough oxygen), and magnetic anomolies.
