About Knowledge-A-Thon

Although KNOWLEDGE-A-THON was a very successful program for five years, it is no longer held at Clearview (the parents who organized it no longer have children at the school.) Here is the description for last time the program took place at Clearview.

FIFTH ANNUAL KNOWLEDGE-A-THON FUNDRAISER
SPONSORED BY THE CLEARVIEW P.T.A.

What is Knowledge-a-thon?

Each student will be given a set of questions and answers to learn. They will be asked the questions by parents and community volunteers during the testing week. [This year testing week coincides with American Education Week. Children will not be tested on the day when their grade is scheduled for parent visitation.]
While they are learning their questions, the students find sponsors to make a pledge based on the number of questions answered correctly (or to donate a fixed amount.)
100% of the money raised goes toward funding important P.T.A. activities like class field trips, books, computer software, art and science events. This is the P.T.A.'s main fundraising event. Other fundraisers have a significant cost for the items sold, and studies show that people pledge primarily to support the child's school, not to obtain the items sold.
The children have fun learning, and they don't have to sell anything!

Prizes!

The 1997 Knowledge-a-thon promotion has a Baseball theme.

Local companies and organizations have donated prizes for six pledge categories from a bunt to a grand slam!
Every student who gets a perfect test score will receive a ticket to an Allentown Ambassador baseball game!
The class with the most donations will have a "ballpark" party with hot dogs and popcorn.

Special Events

The opening pitch for Knowledge-a-thon will be October 1. The Ambassador mascot, Uncle Baseball, will be visiting each grade to tell the children about the fund raiser and the prizes they can earn. Look for the packet that will come home with your child that day.
Look for a flyer coming soon about "All Stars Training Camp", a club for 3rd - 5th graders to practice their Knowlege-a-thon questions and play games of logic and skill.
We will be hosting a scholastic scrimmage on October 16. Clearview students will compete with Nitschmann eighth graders, using the Knowledge-a-thon questions. Last year our fifth graders won!
