
About the Lehigh Valley Animal Rights Coalition
LVARK is an all volunteer, grass roots organization formed in 1982 and currently
serves hundreds of members throughout the Lehigh Valley as a registered 501C3
nonprofit organization overseen by a board of directors.
The mission of LVARK is to "educate the public on the misuse and abuse of
animals whenever and wherever it occurs" through direct action, public outreach and
letter-writing campaigns.
LVARK networks internationally and takes part in all major national, state and
local events. Some accomplishments to date include:
- Supporting the rights of students statewide to choose alternatives
to dissection in biology classes;
- Significantly reducing fur sales in the Lehigh Valley;
- Supplying local colleges and libraries with Animals Agenda
Magazine, books and other literature;
- Encouraging and guiding local retailers to supply cruelty-free products;
- Assisting with low-cost spay/neuter needs;
- Participating in the ban against live pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania;
- Placing media advertising and public service messages concerning
current issues and the welfare of animals; and,
- Offering rewards for the apprehension of parties involved in acts of cruelty.
