Thanks, Mary Lou Jarry Padrnos Omaha, Nebraska Posted: 6/10/2002 Bryan Warchus art119@crown.net I am looking for information on my grandfather Arthur L. Warchus. He served as a corpsman in the 13th AF and I believe to be the 29th squadron. I never met him and am going by what the rest of the family told me. He talked about bombers, Guadalcannal, the Phillipines and Okinawa. He left country in early 1942 and returned in late 1945.I have a picture of P-38's in a jungle setting no squadron markings can be seen, other than they are natural metal, and the air field looks fairly new. Can anyone help? Thanks, Bryan Warchus Posted: 6/10/2002 Doug Smith swatara@erols.com For whom it may concern, I have partial unit histories for the 551st S.A.W. Thanks, David Kegarise Posted: 6/10/2002 Lex McAulay bannerbk@satcom.net.au Looking for any info on B-24 crashes on the Admiralty island group, SWPA, April-November 1944. Some of these aircraft crashed into tented areas, one particularly into USN CBs, and killed many people. Any info on aircraft, units, and reports of the crashes will be welcome, for a history of 79 Squadron RAAF, which flew Spitfires out of Momote airfield there. Thanks, Lex McAulay Harold Krueger hkrueger@voyager.net I WAS WITH THE 1960 TRUCK CO. ANY ONE OUT THERE WHO ALSO IN THAT OUTFIT OF THE 13TH A.F. Harold Krueger Andrew C. I have a lot of papers (orders, awards, etc.) and pictures (aerial photos, aircraft and crew photos, etc. I am interested in finding out more information about his time in the war. If anyone has any information to pass on to me, that would be wonderful. I am interested in the missions he flew on and their objectives. I guess I am interested in just about any information anyone might have. Michael Wall Thomas C. Erb tomerb@terrariser.com My Father was with the 419th Night Fighter Squadron in the Philippines from 1942-1945. I am unable to retrieve any information about his service record due to the St. Louis Fire. I was wondering if there was anywhere else I could go to find some information. Like so many of his generation, I am only finding out about his war service after his passing last year. I am designing a memorial for him and I would like to be able to understand more about his service. Thank you so much for any assistance. Best regards, Tommy Erb David Lumpkins dbdl@integrity.com My father was George T. Dubis of the 67th Fighter Squadron in the 13th USAAF. He is mentioned in the story on this website about the Jungle Air Force China Offensive along with Dan L. Shaw. Some other members of his squadron were Theodore R. Newton, Joseph A. LeDoux, Harold L. Saltsgaver, Robert R. Scott, and John Raymond Johnson. My Dad died in Korea in a freak airplane accident in 1955 when I was one year old. I would love to hear from any of the individuals named above or any family members or anyone else who knew my Dad to learn more about him. Thanks. David Lumpkins John Cook Ordy1Jack@msn.com Am a crewman on a restored B-25J Mitchell here in Salem, OR. I researched the markings and we painted her as "Super Rabbit" of the 390th BS 42nd BG. Would enjoy hearing from any 42nd BG vets who crewed the original. John Cook Ken Van Dellen kenvandellen@home.com I'm trying to help my high school biology teacher from back in the early fifties. Herman Eugene Inman, B-24 radio operator, ser. no. 16189465, is trying to find members of his crew. He was in the South Pacific, and mentioned Halmahera Islands and Moratai. (I hope I have the right spelling.) He thought he was in the 5th or 8th Air Force and the Bomb Group was 8077, but no certainty on this. They were called the "Long Rangers" because of long missions. I think he may have been in the 13th Air Force and the 307th Bomb Group, after doing some checking, but I may be wrong. Crew members were (name, assignment, home) Peter Meinhertzhagen, engineer, ? Al Watman, ?, Chicago Charles Metzger, navigator, MA? ? Woodruff?, co-pilot, WV Bill Clark, ?, Midwest Joe Dugan?, tail gunner, ? They bombed Japanese oil storage facilities at Balikpapan in 1944. I hope there are enough clues to zero in on his outfit and maybe find a surviving crewmember or two. It would make Gene's day. He's 77, and doubts we can find any. If you can give me something that would narrow this down, I can do some digging. Ken Van Dellen Glenn Grundei grgrundei@aol.com I'd like to get in touch with anyone who knew my dad Joe Grundei. He was with the 13th Air Force from 1942 to 1945. He was rated a power turret tech but may have flown as a tail gunner on occasion. Glenn Grundei Michael Carter mcarter@sed.redstone.army.mil I am looking for info on my uncle, Otto L Carter (Buddie). He was a pilot, 1st Lt., with the 42nd Bomb Group, 69th Bomb Squad. He was listed as MIA on 6 June 1945. I have a copy of his MACR. The plane was never found. I would be interested to hear from anyone who knew him or might have info about the mission or the search. Michael Carter Tom Gipe tgipe@mediaone.net My Uncle, Dwain Gipe, was in the 13th Air Force, 42nd Bomb Group, 75th Squadron. I've been finishing my Uncle's history; he was in it with the 75th all the way through the war. He was a B-25 power turret specialist and was given a bronze star for two inventions he made. Subsequent B-25's came from the factory with his inventions. Unfortuantely he passed away about two months ago, but he had a great life and I had been interviewing him on his personal accounts over the last year or so. He was a wonderful person and besides writing his story, I want to honor him by getting a B-25 model that is custom made and accurately represents his squadron. I'm not certain, but I believe each squadron of the 42nd had a certain color on the twin rudder top tips and the leading edge of the engine cowling. The 390th was yellow, does anyone know the correct color for the 75th? Tom Gipe Marcy Eisenberg marcy-e@mediaone.net I am searching for two members of the 13th AAF who flew the aircraft "Miss Ann Perry" named by Sergeants Don Carrillo of Clarksburg, WV and Allen Roth of Indianapolis for my mother who at the time was a singer with several big bands and appears on numerous radio shows.
