Ned R. Young
beckyned@columbus.rr.com
My name is Ned R. Young, EM 1/C US Navy Seabee WW II. I was at Momote Field, Los Negros Island 1944 in the Seabee's when a B-24 crashed on take off. Some of my shipmates were lost and some injured. This was a terrible loss and through all the years I never forgot this. Some of us had gone over seas together from Gulfport Miss. For 60 Years I have wondered about this accident. We were not permitted to even mention it in our letters we sent home. I looked at the 13th web site and ran across a visitors request, Posted 6/10/2002, Lex McAulay looking for any info on a B-24 crash, into the Seabee tented areas on the Admiralty Islands. Lex McAulay had a e-mail that is not current now as I tried to contact him. If you know his Mailing address, I would write to him. I would like to know of any report of the accident or any thing about what happened. If you can tell me where to look for any info it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ned R. Young

He went on to spend a career in The U.S. Air Force..retired as a member of SAC.

I have recently acquired some memorabilia that was sent from Sgt. Emmett V. Lee to his mother, Mrs. J. C. Lee, of Waco, TX. The envelope contains an embroidered silk handkerchief, and three pictures of Sgt. Lee, Cpl. Robert V. Johnson, and Sgt. Robben by their tent in New Guinea.
The envelope is postmarked SEP 30, 1943 and has the following return address:

Sgt. Emmett V. Lee
1061st. Q.M.Co. 64th. Serv. Gp.
Army Air Base
Great Falls, Montana

I am interested in knowing more about the men in the photos and would like to return the contents to the Lee family if possible. Can anyone supply more information?

Thanks,
Jim Robertson

There were several inquires about the 229th Antiaircraft Searchlight Battalion which supported the 13th Army Air Force on Morotai. My father was a member of this battalion (Battery C). I have a copy of the official unit history and have made contact with some of surviving members. They will be holding a reunion in the Fall 2004.
My Dad has alot of Photos which I believe were taken on Morotai. It would be great to hear from somebody in Battery C.

My father Harold McFall was in the 13th AF and was in the 17th Photo Recon Sqdn. There is an outside chance it was the 18th. I am trying to find any information about him. His military records were lost in the fire at the records center in St. Louis. I also believe that he was in the 819th Bombardment Squadron. Is there any way to find out when/where he was in the Pacific? Any information, leads or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

As a side note, the 7th AF patch was on the left shoulder and the 13th AF on the right. .

Thanks,
Kelly McFall

My dad, Tyndall E. Ross, served with the 13th Air Force but I have no further information since he is now deceased. I would like to put together information for his flag display but when I requested his information from the military archives, I learned that those had been destroyed by fire in 1973. They were able to tell me that he served from May 5, 1942 to November 11, 1945 and acheived the rank of Corporal. I would greatly appeciate any and all help constructing my dad's military service.

Thanks,
Rex Ross
