I was at Momote Field, Los Negros Island 1944 in the Seabee's when a B-24 crashed on take off. Some of my shipmates were lost and some injured. This was a terrible loss and through all the years I never forgot this. Some of us had gone over seas together from Gulfport Miss. For 60 Years I have wondered about this accident. We were not permitted to even mention it in our letters we sent home. I looked at the 13th web site and ran across a visitors request, Posted 6/10/2002, Lex McAulay looking for any info on a B-24 crash, into the Seabee tented areas on the Admiralty Islands. Lex McAulay had a e-mail that is not current now as I tried to contact him. If you know his Mailing address, I would write to him. I would like to know of any report of the accident or any thing about what happened. If you can tell me where to look for any info it would be appreciated. Thanks, Ned R. Kernan,Jr.(Mike)..T/Sgt at the time I believe, was with the 90th Bomb Group-H, Jolly Rogers. He was a top turret gunner, flight engineer and crew chief on a B-24 Liberator. If anyone has ever heard of him or know's his plane's name or The Skipper's name..PLEASE let me know. He spoke of Rabaul and many other places in that area. I can find very little about his outfit and await any and all rememberences or information anxiously!! PLEASE!! He went on to spend a career in The U.S. Air Force..retired as a member of SAC. Cassell SCass51056@aol.com Looking for any information on my Dad, M.L. "Mutt" Cassell. I believe he was in the 11th BG and the 42nd BS. Flew 40 missions on B24's in the Pacific as radio operator and turret gunner. He passed away a couple of years ago without leaving any info about his years in the service. He was a Flight Surgeon in the 13th Bomber Command of the 13th Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946 serving in the South Pacific. My Dad (92 years old) and Mom now live in Arizona. Paulsen robert.paulsen@verizon.net My dad was in the 13thAF 42ndBG 69thSQ as a bomber in B25s. He was shot down on Christmas Eve 1943 near New Ireland. He and the crew survived - I am looking for any mission records or photos. The pilot was Lt. Albert Marx of PA and crew included Philip A. Martin of Newport RI. Thanks, Robert T. The envelope contains an embroidered silk handkerchief, and three pictures of Sgt. Lee, Cpl. Robert V. Johnson, and Sgt. Robben by their tent in New Guinea. The envelope is postmarked SEP 30, 1943 and has the following return address: Sgt. Emmett V. Lee 1061st. Q.M.Co. 64th. Serv. Gp. Army Air Base Great Falls, Montana I am interested in knowing more about the men in the photos and would like to return the contents to the Lee family if possible. Can anyone supply more information? I have a picture of our squadron maintenance group in front of a B-25. I am 80 years old but I would like to know if there is any reunion of my guys from Sterling Island, south of Guadalcanal? Thanks, Tryon (BILL) Shepherd Posted: 07/07/2004 Mike Jacobi mjacobi2@comcast.net There were several inquires about the 229th Antiaircraft Searchlight Battalion which supported the 13th Army Air Force on Morotai. My father was a member of this battalion (Battery C). I have a copy of the official unit history and have made contact with some of surviving members. They will be holding a reunion in the Fall 2004. My Dad has alot of Photos which I believe were taken on Morotai. It would be great to hear from somebody in Battery C. There is an outside chance it was the 18th. I am trying to find any information about him. His military records were lost in the fire at the records center in St. Louis. I also believe that he was in the 819th Bombardment Squadron. Is there any way to find out when/where he was in the Pacific? Any information, leads or contacts would be greatly appreciated. As a side note, the 7th AF patch was on the left shoulder and the 13th AF on the right. . Thanks, Kelly McFall Posted: 10/09/2003 Rex Ross wrecks99@trentonmo.com My dad, Tyndall E. Ross, served with the 13th Air Force but I have no further information since he is now deceased. I would like to put together information for his flag display but when I requested his information from the military archives, I learned that those had been destroyed by fire in 1973. They were able to tell me that he served from May 5, 1942 to November 11, 1945 and acheived the rank of Corporal. I would greatly appeciate any and all help constructing my dad's military service. Eye painted on the nose left and right side. Killed on August 23, 1944 Plane went in between Russel and Santa Isabel Islands. Was a battle ship in the area crew saw the plane hit the water. Can anyone tell me where the 17th 4th Photo recon was stationed? Does any one know of any web sights on the 17th, 8th or 7th photo recon? I would appreciate any suggestions on my research.
