Buttermilk Falls
Dropping from 1000 to 400 feet above sea level, Buttermilk falls State Park surrounds buttermilk Creek as it plunges through a gorge down the eastern slope of the Cayuga Valley at the southern edge of the city of Ithaca, NY. At the end of its journey, the stream reaches its climax as it tumbles over Buttermilk Falls.
There is no charge to use the park, but there is a $6 parking fee. It is possible to start at the bottom of the gorge - you just have to interpolate the clues. Pick up a map at the entrance.

From the parking lot at the upper
entrance of the park, get on the Bear Trail and proceed north along the creek.
The trail empties onto a park road. Walk along the road, through another parking
lot, and then on to the Treman Lake trail. Take the trail right around the lake,
cross the bridge when you come to it and stay on the path till you find yourself
stumped in the middle of the trail. Look around for the Jolly Rancher who will
show you the way - 28 paces @70*.
