• Family Promise is
an organization that is committed to helping low-income
families nationwide to achieve lasting independence.
It is done by helping communities mobilize to provide
safe shelter, meals, and support services for homeless
families and through programs designed to redress the
underlying causes of homelessness. St. Johns is
participating with the churches of the greater Kutztown
community to provide temporary shelter for homeless families.

• Annual Thanksgiving
Dinner All are invited
- local families too far from relatives to travel, single
-parent families, seniors, students, empty nesters, and
newcomers to the area. Rides are provided to those who
need them. Meals are delivered to the housebound and Meals-in-Wheels
clients on request. Pickup/carry-out service is available,
too.
Food preparation: 8:00
a.m. -12:00 p.m.
Meals on wheels delivery: 11:00a.m.
Dinner: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Clean up: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

• Friend,
Inc. is
our local multi-service referral agency assisting families
and individuals of any age, income, or background who
are having difficulty in overcoming the obstacles of
everyday living. St. Johns supports the work of
the agency and assists in many of the projects.www.friendinc.org
• Living with loss is
a professionally-led support group for those grieving
the death of someone they love. It is held once a week
for six weeks in various churches in the Kutztown area
and is led by Louisa Weber, a member of St. Johns,

• Berks Women in Crisis is
a private, non-profit, domestic and sexual violence center
located in Reading. The center was founded in 1976 by
a group of volunteers rooted in the belief that all people
are entitled to a life free from physical, sexual, and
emotional violence. This project receives on-going support
from St. John's and members of St. John's serve on its

• Womens Book & Breakfast is
for Adult Women with alcohol and substance dependence.
AA meets at St. John's on Saturday mornings.
