a cup or a quart of soup for themselves to take home to freeze

  18 Fall annual meeting to adopt the budget for 2008 and elect members of the Congregation Council will be held in Kaiser Auditorium immediately following the 10:45 AM worship service.

October 15 Trip to Atlantic City.  Leave 9:30 AM.  Contact Church Office

  28 We are pleased to announce that, once again (as they did
10 years ago), our own Chancel Players will present the
drama "The Trial of Dr. Martin Luther" during the 10:45 AM
worship service.  This year's production will feature Ken Remaly
in the role of Martin Luther.  Frank Podleiszek will recreate his
role as the "prosecutor".  Many, many other members of the
troupe will be involved.  You won't want to miss this!  In fact,
we need to have you present, because you will serve as the
jury, and you will be asked to render a verdict at the end of
the trial! 

To make this day even more inviting, the Youth Group
and Evangelism Committee will sponsor a spaghetti dinner after
the 10:45 AM service.  Tickets are $8.00 for ages 12 & over;
$5.00 for ages 6-11; free for ages 5 and under.  Profits from
this dinner will go to "Habitat for Humanity".   Contact the
Church Office for additional information and tickets.
     
September 9 Sunday School "Rally Day" with an "Old Fashioned Game Day"
theme.  9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  16 Start of new class for teens who have finished confirmation
class. "Teen Challenge Class" will meet weekly from
9:00 AM-10:00 AM
.  Open to all teens from 9th grade to
19 years of age.  Class will include films and discussion
groups on everyday issues with teens.

  16 Southside Ministries "KIDS" program.  The Vacation Bible School program will meet at Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Monday
through Friday evenings during the weeks of July 16 and July 23.  Registration forms will be available from the Church office in April.  More details to follow.
  31 B/MSSCA bus trip to Washington, DC for Slovenian musical group,
host families, B/MSSCA members, Church members.  Bus leaves
at 5:00 AM.

February 18 Annual "Memories Celebration" at Saucon Valley Acres. 
  25 Second installment of our annual meeting.  To be held in the
Kaiser Auditorium immediately following the 10:45 AM Worship.
Agenda is limited to consideration of both old and new business
and acting upon the various reports from Committees, the
Pastor, etc.  The Church Office staff requests that that all
reports to be included in the 2007 report booklet be submitted
to the Office no later than Wednesday, January 31.

  28 Chicken Paprikas Rededication Dinner.
     
2006    
December 10 Dinner Theatre at 12:30 PM, Kaiser Auditorium. 
The Youth Group will join with St. John's Chancel Players to offer
an afternoon dinner theatre presentation.  The Youth Group will
cater a spaghetti dinner, and the Chancel Players will perform "In
Bethlehem Inn" by John Carter as part of the afternoon's
festivities.  Tickets are on sale in the CE Lobby before and after
the 10:45 AM Worship Service through December 3.  
Ticket prices are $10 (Adults (13 and over)); $5 (Children 6 - 12);
Free for Children under age 6.
  17 Sunday School Christmas Program during the 10:45 AM worship
service.  Everyone is invited to return to the Kaiser Auditorium
for a period of refreshments and fellowship following the service.

Join us at First Night Bethlehem from 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM. 
We will be partnering with the Steelworkers' Archives at Union
Hall, 53 East Lehigh Street.  St. John's Altar Society will be
making goulash, which will be available for sale at 5:00 PM. 
There will be limited parking in the Union Hall parking lot.  Union
Hall is also the last stop on the Southside trolley loop. The
movie version of SteelBound will be shown at 2:00 PM, 6:00 PM,
and approx. 9:00 PM.  The event will also include presentations
by the Steelworkers' Archives Speakers Bureau, a display of
Steelworker memorabilia, and a display of items from Slovenia by
the Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association.  Other
food items being sold by the Steelworkers' Archives are hot dogs,
hot and cold beverages, and pastries.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 474 Vine Street, Bethlehem.

October 14 St. John's is one of the featured sites in Touchstone Theatre's "A
Touch of the South Side:  An Autumn House Tour Celebrating
South Bethlehem".  10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Orientation for both 1st and 2nd year catechetical students will
be held in the Banko Lounge at 9:15 AM; parents should
accompany students to registration!
  24 Combined classes for 1st and 2nd year catechetical students
begin.  Those who are entering the 7th grade are invited to join
the 1st year class.  Returning students from last year comprise
the 2nd year class.
     
August 2 Old Fashioned Family Picnic sponsored by the
Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association to welcome
the visiting Slovenian students and their host families.
6:00 PM at Saucon Valley Acres, Black River Road, Bethlehem.
$10 per person.

Association to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing
of the sister cities agreement. 
  23 The Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association will
observe the 10th anniversary of its founding at a flag-raising
ceremony to be held at the Payrow Plaza at City Hall, Bethlehem,
10:30 AM.  To be followed by lunch at The Palace Restaurant.
