What a coincidence!I like Jazz. So does Marilyn.I've known Mark Jackowski for over 10 years, and we have some things in common. I've known that he loves Jazz, and he likes the MacIntosh computer, and he has a spa. I got to know all this because we have the same " day job ", and we belong to the same association. Only within the last few months, when I was sitting with him at an educational seminar, did I find out that he was playing a gig close to my home. Mark said he was also playing with Michael Piper. I've know Michael for just about as long, and I had no idea he played the bass. Later, when I got home and told Marilyn to skip Karaoke the first Thursday of January 2001 because we were going to see a band, her reaction was skepticism. Note: Harlequin plays at Justin's on the first Thursday of every month. When we walked into Justin's, the band was playing some really tasty fusion jazz. We knew a lot of the songs, loved the music direction, AND had a great meal. At the break, I introduced Marilyn to Mark and Mike, and they introduced us to Larry Smith and Kevin Richardson. Marilyn told Mark she skipped Karaoke tonight to see them. Mark asked, "What do you sing?" When Marilyn got down the list to "Steamroller Blues", Mark said to Mike, "Do you thing we could do it? Mike said, "Sure!" When the band started the next set, Marilyn got up with them and hit all the notes (and most of the words) to two verses and sat down. The band did the 12 bar break and then they did it again. Kevin came over to our table and told her that if she didn't come back up on stage, lead them into the last verse, and out again, that they would be stuck in that tune FOREVER. Well, she got up and NAILED the last verse. Everybody applauded. Later when she went to get a drink, the barmaid said she sang really good. Marilyn was floating on a cloud. What a fun band! I'm sure you'll find me in the audience. I enjoy this band.
