Skip stopped by this afternoon. We drank a beer and listened to Ellington at Newport --1956 Skip just burned a new CD and we listened to that. It's a performance of him and quartet at the Reading Art Museum. Whether it's bop, straight ahead, or standards, it's always good jazz when Skip is thumpin the bass. He brought the CD over and gave me a deal on it. He leaves me with the impression that by buying this CD, I also have some small part in saving his marriage. There is always something happening with Skip. Send him an Email and if his computer does not crap out AGAIN, he will send you his schedule. Sometimes I get a phone call the day before the gig, and there's usually a "hook". Like the time he played a "Casa Grande" in Temple, and told me to be sure and order the fish. They make a great Sea Bass, says Skip. Skip gets gigs on the spur of the moment. He told me he was just hired to play for deaf people.
I go to see Skip and the band whenever I can.
