24 Hour Crisis Hotline

For over 20 years, Women's Resources has provided continuous 24-hour hotline service in our community for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Hotline counselors are available around the clock to provide support, information, and, if necessary, referrals to the caller.
Women's Resources' crisis hotline is staffed by trained volunteers and professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. This service is available to anyone who has been emotionally, physically or sexually abused, as well as to family members and significant others. Resource and referral information is also available.
The Hotline is a critical service for persons in crisis and is often a victim's first point of contact with the agency. The anonymity of the Hotline provides a safe environment for a victim who has perhaps never told anyone of the abuse.
Volunteer crisis counselors staff the Hotline. The volunteer counselors must successfully complete a comprehensive seventy-hour training program certified by The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence and The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, and receive supervision from the professional staff of the agency. These dedicated volunteers are available to respond to the needs of victims who may express fear, anger, confusion, or embarrassment. The police, the ambulance crew, the emergency room staff, or the victim's family may also call a crisis counselor to meet a sexual assault or domestic violence victim at the hospital. The counselor provides support, information about what may happen next, and appropriate referrals.
